This month the Peeing Boy at Japan Railway's Hamamatsucho Station in Tokyo is bearing a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers. Coincidentally, the Mainichi Shinbun, one of Japan's three major dailies, reports this month that "scientists have launched "operation sunflowers" in a bid to remove radioactive cesium from the ground in an evacuation zone near the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant." Thank goodness we can at least rely on Mother Nature to clean up some of the radioactive mess we've created. Now we wonder if she has any tricks up her sleeves for getting rid of the full-grown sunflower plants which we would imagine will contain a relatively high concentration of the radioactive toxin.
