A month ago today this shell-of-its-former-self 7/11 convenience store in the tsunami-ravaged city of Iwaki, Fukushima was the site of a stirring concert. Dubbed "Share Fukushima," the show featured Tabito Nanao on guitar and Keichiro Shibuya playing piano. Those who turned out for the event had forked over a ticket price of approximately one hundred dollars, to be donated to local relief and reconstruction efforts, and a day of manual labor spent cleaning up debris left in the wake of the tidal wave that swept much of northeastern Japan on March eleventh of this year.
You can still catch the whole concert on Ustream as well as help with relief and reconstruction work. Judy Garland fans will find a familiar tune at the 02:05:00 mark on the Ustream video.
