Whale of a Meal

As you can see by the lack of postings, nothing new has happened here in Temple Valley so I've decided to post the lunch menus for the local Bounty Hill Elementary* school where my son attends.

On the menu today is: Whale

I don't think many people in Japan eat much whale these days. The Japanese government subsidizes whaling and without much of a commercial outlet, I think a good portion of it ends up in school lunches.

This is a copy of today's lunch menu, including nutritional information, caloric values, etc. and a rough translated summary: January 28th: Rice, Milk, Grilled whale meat with sesame seed and miso dressing, cabbage salad, and a rich vegetable soup with tofu cubes.
Calories: 658 kcal / Protien: 27.3 g

Brothers Under the Skin

I love this little replica of Belgium's Mannekin Pis that stands atop the platform of Japan Railway's Hamamatsucho Station in central Tokyo. We even have the same bunny outfit.
