Japan Goes Bananas

A few Japanese TV commercials advertising bananas.

Not entirely just bananas.

See the documentary film, Life & Debt, which includes an insightful segment on the banana industry.
Find out more about the film here.

Make Your Bed .....

I need to get one of these. It's a "disaster preparedness bed," designed to keep you safe in the event of an earthquake. When everything around you is falling to the ground you can rest in peace (knowing you're sure to get up in the morning that is, unless you die of some other casues). The bed pictured here, manufactured by Houei Koki, goes for about 2000 US dollars (based on an unofficial exchange rate of 100 yen to the dollar) but the city of Yokohama, where I live, provides a subsidy that let's you get it for half that price (a mere 1000 US dollars, approx.).

A number of Japanese companies make these types of beds. The links below will help you find a bed that, as Goldielocks said, "is just right" for you.

April Fools' Day Lesson

New Spin on Cool

Is it some monolith from outer sapce?

Go ahead, stick your head in it.

This is no April Fool's joke. Dyson has come up with a revolutionary fan that puts a safe new spin (or not, because there actually are no blades to spin) on cool.

The real test will be if it can make you sound like a martian when you stick your face into the on coming air flow and say "Take me to your leader!"
